GARMENT RECREATION

GARMENT RECREATION

Using 3 R's

REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE

Why to throwaway clothes .. if we can recreate them and develop a different look.
It's just like having a new dress in your wardrobe ..

Recreation of a

Crop Top (Tie Dye Effect)

from an

Old, long and loose White Top

Watch the below video to see how I reached to the final output while recreating my old top :

I took old white top from my wardrobe which I used to wear very rare . It didn't look attractive enough as it was very loose, long and of a plain white color.

I planned to give it a crushed tie dye effect.
So First, I dyed it in yellow color to give it a light base .
Then I tied it with crushed effect technique and dyed it in pink color.
This gave the top a new color effect.
As, it was quite long, I cut it and gave the elastic at the hem.
So now I got a crop top, fitted at the bottom.

I didn't want to waste the bottom part of the top, So I made a fabric head band out of it, which well well with the top.
Keeping the sustainability factor in mind, I recreated a crop top with zero wastage.

REFLECTION

Reading in deep about the fast fashion and it's harmful effects on the environment , this assignment was a best way to apply the learnings into a sustainable output.
It was very interesting to work with an old dress and made us realize that an used or an old garment is not meant just for discarding. It can be used creatively in a number of ways. I feel very satisfied and happy as I got a new top in my wardrobe. In this, we can recreate a lot of old garments.
