BALANCE

Balance is the amount of visual weight each element carries in a composition in a way it looks stability.

Visual weight refers to how much attention an object draws in a composition.

It is used to add stability, structure and create emphasis and dynamics.

ASSIGNMENT

To create  a symmetrical and an asymmetrical balanced composition using 5 elements.

First, I selected 5 elements, that I could use to create my composition.

These are the elements that I picked.

SYMMETRICAL BALANCE

In the above composition, I arranged my 5 elements in a way it creates a symmetrical balanced composition. If we divide the composition into half  vertically, both sides would come out identical.

I have taken a woman's half portrait and created it's mirror image. Then, I masked the building in the woman. I used the repetition of lines and circles to create more effect.

I balanced the visual weight into equal halves in the composition.

ASSYMETRICAL BALANCE

In the above composition, I used the same elements to create a asymmetrical composition.

I balanced the visual weight in the composition, when divided the composition in halves vertically,

By varying in the size and values  of the elements.
